Leslie received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, with a concentration in Forensics and a minor in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Her research interests include forensic psychology, correctional mental health, victim services, and diversion programs. In addition to her research experience in positive psychology and culturally accessible support services for Spanish-speaking caregivers of adults with disabilities, Leslie served as a mentor in the Juvenile Reentry Mentoring Project (JRMP) at UNO, providing long-term one-on-one mentorship to a youth in detention. Through this role, she helped with emotional development, encouraged pro-social skills, and modeled positive decision-making, further strengthening her commitment to supporting justice-involved youth and vulnerable populations. Leslie hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice, become a professor, and continue research that supports justice system reform and vulnerable populations.
