Caitlyn Jordon and Taylor Gonzales Receive Ben Steiner Excellence in Corrections Student Paper Award
ARC Lab students Caitlyn Jordon and Taylor Gonzales have received the Ben Steiner Excellence in Corrections Student Paper Award from the American Society of Criminology’s Division on Corrections and Sentencing.
Jordon and Gonzales received the award for their paper, “Making Release Decisions Under Uncertainty: Perspectives from Board of Parole and Correctional Practitioners.”
The Ben Steiner Excellence in Corrections Student Paper Award recognizes the most outstanding student research paper in corrections and sentencing. Papers are evaluated based on the significance and contribution of the research, integration of prior literature, appropriateness and sophistication of the research methodology, and overall quality of the writing and organization.
The award will be presented at the 2026 American Society of Criminology Annual Meeting in Chicago.

My research interests focus on a mixed-methods criminological approach to corrections and rehabilitation relating to prison reentry, resources available for previously incarcerated individuals upon reentry, and the examination of community-based preventative factors both on an individual and institutional level.

My research centers around corrections, recidivism, and program evaluations.
